Take off into the future with British Airways
A new chapter has opened at British Airways with the arrival of A380 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into its fleet. The new aircraft is part of British Airways’ £5 billion investment project to make air travel more comfortable.
British Airways is the first airline that launched the new A380. Soon the world’s largest passenger airliner will be flying between London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Johannesburg. The A380 offers space for 469 customers across four spacious cabins. In addition travellers benefit from bigger overhead lockers, the quietest cabin in the sky and much less noise on take-off and landing. Although it is the largest passenger airliner in the air travel market, it is also the greenest; it is the lowest cost per seat and the lowest emissions per passenger of any large aircraft.
The 787 has 214 seats across three cabins and benefits from much larger windows. Customers can adjust the brightness of windows with push of a button. The aircraft is 20% more fuel efficient than similar sized commercial jets and to date, is Boeing’s most fuel efficient aircraft.
Both new aircraft types feature British Airways’ latest Thales in-flight entertainment system. In addition, customers will benefit from larger screens in all cabins and will be able to connect personal devices, such as laptops or iPads.
On 1st September the first Boeing 787 flight to Toronto took off and 24th September, the first A380 flight to Los Angeles. This month, both aircraft types will start operations on their second route. The 787 will fly from Newark and the A380 daily service to Hong Kong will start on 22nd October 2013.
Flight to Johannesburg is now open for sale and will take off on 12 February 2014, initially offering three flights per week. From 10th March 2014, this will increase to six flights weekly.
