little_red_blue-bk390Earlier this month, Virgin Atlantic announced the cessation of their domestic Little Red service from 2015. The relatively new service began in March 2013, but failed to achieve expected results. The service was mainly used by travellers for point to point trips rather than those using the domestic flight to connect to another Virgin long-haul flight, as the airline hoped for.

Virgin’s London Heathrow – Manchester route will be the first to cease operation on 28 March 2015. Flights to Aberdeen and Edinburgh will be ending later in the year, on 26 September 2015. The Virgin’s UK domestic service will continue to offer its daily flights between Heathrow and Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Manchester until the above stated dates. Flying Club members still benefits from special offers on mileage redemption on these routes before their cessation. Affected travellers will be notified and given other travel options by Flying Club.
