SME Business Travel: British Airways revamps SME On Business loyalty points scheme
10th June 2015
Especially when it comes to SME business travel, budgets are generally lower and resources are often limited. Flightline Travel Management is pleased to inform you British Airways has re-launched the ‘On Business’ airline loyalty scheme which now better is even more attractive to customers from small-medium-enterprises.
The revised SME corporate airline loyalty programme provides corporate travellers the opportunity to choose between taking advantage of immediate discounts of at least five percent off on selected flights or to redeem ‘On Business’ points and use them for business trips and free upgrades. The newly revamped corporate airline loyalty scheme now rewards SME companies, who have a higher spending with British Airways as opposed to the distance flown. The changes to the BA on Business takes place alongside similar changes to the airline’s Executive Club corporate loyalty programme.
The free-to-join SME business travel programme offers companies which sign up the opportunity to earn triple points on the first six flights or eligible routes with partner airlines within 12 months of joining the business travel programme. BA Executive Club and Iberia Plus members continue to earn Avios points which they can spend on personal reward flights and upgrades. Customers can collect ‘On Business’ points for their company, which can be redeemed on upgrades and reward flights for employees flying across the British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia network.
As part of the revamp of the sme business travel programme, three tiers are being introduced (Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3) based on the annual amount spent on business flights, rather than distance travelled for business purposes.
The spending threshold for Tier 1 is up to £29,999 on annual company travel and earns your one point per £1 spent.
The tier 2 spending threshold is between £30,000 and £299,000 on annual company travel and earns 1.25 points per £1 spent.
The tier 3 has a spending threshold of above £300,000 on company travel and earns 1.5 points per £1 spent.
Designed with small-medium-sized enterprises in mind, the revamped ‘BA On Business scheme’ allows small and medium-sized enterprises to make the most of their business travel expenditure by taking advantage of benefits such as immediate discounts, reward flights and upgrades for travelling employees across the partnership between British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia, enabling them to efficiently travel across the globe through one scheme. Further, changes to the airline loyalty programme include the facility where customers can choose to receive a cash discount on selected flights instead of earning BA On Business points.
