Business Travel Alert: Spanish air traffic controllers to strike on 8,10,12 and 14 June 2015
8th June 2015
Leaders of the Spanish Trade Union of Air Traffic Controllers (USCA) have called for workers to stage a series of two-hour strikes across the country in June 2015. The air traffic controllers strike is related to an on-going dispute with the airport operator AENA. The series of industrial actions will take place twice each day, probably between 10:00-12:00 and 18:00-20:00 hrs local time) on 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th of June 2015.
Business Travel Advice:
Unless called off, the walkout of USCA air traffic controllers is expected to disrupt passenger and cargo flight operations Spain wide. Although the actions are all for a short period of time, travellers are advised to prepare for flight delays. However, it is expected that the short duration of the strike action is likely to help keep the number of likely flight cancellations on long-haul flights to a minimum. Leisure and corporate travellers are encouraged to confirm their flight status with the airline before starting their journey to the airport.
