Airline News: United Airlines launches New York-Newcastle non-stop service

The airline will operate flights five times weekly until the 7th of September. The new United non-stop service represents the first-ever scheduled direct flight service to the USA from the Airport located in the North East of England.
Flights are operated with Boeing 757-200 aircraft with a total of 169 seats, comprising 16 flat-bed seats in BusinessFirst and 153 seats in Economy of which 45 are Economy Plus seats providing extra legroom and additional personal space.
Flight UA159 departs from Newcastle daily, excluding Wednesday and Thursday, at 9:10 am (local time)and arrives at New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport at 12:00 pm the same day (local time). The return flight, UA160, departs from Newark Liberty International Airport daily except Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:20 pm (local time) and arrives at Newcastle Airports at 7:30 am the next day (local time). Flight duration is 7 hours and 50 minutes westbound and 7 hours 10 minutes eastbound.
The newly launched New York – Newcastle route represents a major milestone for the North East region and is expected to further enhance regional connectivity offering leisure and business travellers of the north east a convenient travel option between the UK and US for the first time. In additions, the new service connects Newcastle not only with the ‘Big Apple’ but also provides a wide network of connecting flight options through the airline’s Newark hub.
