Rail Travel Alert: Germany – Nationwide GDL train strike scheduled 19. and 20. May 2015

Rail-Line-Travel-Alerts - Germany Deutsche Bahn - GDL train drivers strikeGDL union announced open-ended nationwide rail services strike across Germany.

Affected travel dates and times:

Freight services – Tuesday, 19th May 2015, 15:00 hrs (local time)

Passenger transportation – Wednesday, 20th May 2015, 02:00 hrs (local time)

Business travel advice:

  • The open-ended train services strike is expected to have severe impact on rail travel, as widespread cancellations and significant rail delays of Deutsche Bahn trains are likely to occur.
  • Leisure and business travellers are advised to check the status of their train connection at before travelling and use alternative ground transport options, if possible.
  • Although the Deutsche Bahn (DB) is running a rail replacement services schedule, travellers are advised to check the status of their train at least 12 hours before departure.
