Air Business Travel: Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Lounge is now open at LAX Airport
11th May 2015
At the end of 2014 Virgin Atlantic announced its intentions to open a new Clubhouse at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). After having invested £2.5 million, the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse LAX has now opened its doors for Virgin’s Upper Class and Flying Club Gold members as well as Delta passengers in Upper Class, and SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members booked on a Virgin Atlantic flight. The 7,000-square-foot lounge is located in Terminal 2 at LAX and is part of the airline’s £300 million customer experience investment. The new Clubhouse is open from 2pm to 9.30pm.
Similiar to Virgin Atlantic’s club houses at New York JFK and Newark Liberty airport, the Virgin Clubhouse at LAX Airport was designed by the airline’s inhouse design team in collaboration with Slade Architecture.
The newly opened Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at LAX Airport features:
- A Restaurant menu with three signature dishes, including green papaya salad, chilli crab toast and miso donuts – (The airline has partnered with LA’s Hinoki & Bird restaurant for their catering.)
- The lounge area is WiFi enabled
- A copper-lined bar and artwork by both California-based and British artists
However, as opposed to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses at New York JFK and London Heathrow Airport, the Los Angeles Clubhouse is not equipped with a spa.
As the Virgin Atlantic’s schedule between Los Angeles LAX and London Heathrow Airport has expanded to three flights a day in partnership with their joint venture partner Delta Airlines, the new Clubhouse will add great value to the travel experience of members of the airlines’ frequent flyer programmes as well as SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members.
