Business Travel Agents Update: Prudential Ride London on 9th -10th August

Flightline business travel agents have been advised that there will be a major impact on road travel in London and parts of Surrey on the weekend 9th and 10th August 2014, as a result of the Prudential Ride London 2014.

IMPACT ON ROAD TRAVEL IN AND AROUND LONDON

The 2-day cycling festival  will involve some road closures and restrictions in east, central London and parts of Surrey, which will impact on road transport, including buses along the route. Road closures start from 05:00hrs and remain until late on both days.

According to the latest updates the following London bridges will be closed for road traffic:

  • Southwark Bridge – closed from 05:00 to 18:00
  • Westminster Bridge – closed from 05:00 to 18:00

10th August 2014

  • Blackwall Tunnel
  • Tower Bridge
  • Southwark Bridge
  • Westminster Bridge
  • Lambeth Bridge
  • Vauxhall Bridge
  • Battersea Bridge
  • Albert Bridge
  • Chiswick Bridge
  • Putney Bridge
  • Kingston Bridge
  • Hampton Court Bridge

TRAVEL FROM AND TO LONDON AIRPORTS

Travel to and from London Heathrow and Gatwick Airports by coach will be affected on 10th August.

TUBE AND RAIL SERVICES

Stations located nearby the event are expected to be busier than normal. The London Tube services Metropolitan and Piccadilly Line are not scheduled to be operating between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge on both event days, There will be also no London Overground services between the below listed routes:

  • South Tottenham to Barking
  • Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction
  • Queen’s Park to Watford Junction

BUS SERVICES

Bus services in and around the areas affected by the ‘Prudential Ride London’ cycling event will be diverted or are expected to terminate earlier than usual in order to avoid road closures. Moreover, various bus stops will be temporality relocated or suspended.

If you plan travel to London or to drive in the affected areas over the weekend, please plan your trip ahead and check for road closures. Travellers are advised to consider using either London Tube, Heathrow Express or rail services to avoid road travel disruption.
