EasyJet extended mobile boarding pass options & additional routes
Following a four month trial at six airports, travellers can now use mobile boarding passes on EasyJet flights from Gatwick Airport. Business travellers are now able to check-in and download mobile boarding passes for any flight from 92 airports provided they have an Apple iPhone and Android smartphones. Overall, travellers can use the EasyJet mobile boarding pass for flights across 85 per cent of the airline’s network, including departures from Bristol, Madrid, Toulouse, Newcastle, Bordeaux, Lyon, London Luton, Milan Malpensa, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Paris Orly, London Stansted, Venice, Manchester, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Edinburgh, Nice and London Southend. If you are travelling in a group of up to 5 passengers then all group members can access their boarding pass via one mobile device. However, at the moment multiple boarding passes are only supported at the above listed airports.
Once downloaded business travellers are able to store their boarding pass offline, meaning you avoid roaming charges. Below are some benefits of the EasyJet mobile boarding passes:
- No more paper or searching for a printer. Simply, check in and download your boarding pass to save it on your iPhone or Android mobile device. Your boarding pass is now ready to be scanned at the Bag Drop desks, security checkpoints, gate, and to be presented when boarding the aircraft.
- Check-in up to two hours before you fly.
- If you have hand-baggage only, just go straight to security and onto your gate.
- No need to have an easyJet account.
- View which flights you still need to check-in for.
At its 15th anniversary the low-cost airline announced last week the addition of two new services, namely flights from Belfast International Airport to Jersey and Bordeaux, which are expected next summer. Further additions to easyJet’s 2014 schedule include services from London Gatwick to Bucharest, Manchester to Venice and London Stansted to Sofia. Now you can download your own Iberia baggage tags
Iberia has become the first airline to allow passengers to download and print their own luggage tags from its website. The Spanish carrier’s new MyBagTag service enables travellers to print out luggage labels alongside their boarding passes, saving time at the airport and giving business travellers an extra opportunity to ensure that both you and your bags safely arrive at the same destination. The facility allows Iberia passengers to first specify the number of bags they wish to check in, and then download, print, and attach the tags themselves. The pre-tagged luggage is then checked in at fast bag-drop counters (numbers 810-811 and 850-851 at Iberia’s T4 Hub in Madrid-barajas airport). In addition, travellers can pick up reusable plastic envelopes for holding the tags at any Spanish airport.
British Airways has extended its hand baggage-only fares to selected short-haul flights from London Heathrow and City airports (read more…). In addition the airline has now taken the decision to postpone the roll-out the changes for the new ‘passport & visa check’ process on short-haul flights, announced last week for short-haul flight from London Heathrow Terminal 5. Therefore the current ‘passport & visa check’ process remains the same until further notice.
Virgin Atlantic will trial a dedicated on site limo number for those customers awaiting their pre-booked chauffeur car to arrive on the day of travel. So if you are using the chauffeured car service, you can use the below listed numbers to check the status of the vehicle, during the trial period (16th Sept. to 13th Oct. 2013): 0844 871 5029 ( UK) and 855 459 9472 9 ( US).
