Changes to UK Rail Fare Structure - Phase 2
Anytime, Off-Peak & Super Off-Peak
New fare names from 7th
September 2008
Back in May, we told you about
changes being made to the way rail fares are structured for the UK rail network.
Advance fares were introduced
on 18th May. From 7th September 2008, phase 2 will be implemented when Anytime,
Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak fare types will be introduced.
Anytime
-
These are fully flexible
walk-up tickets with no restrictions and can be used to travel 'any time'.
-
Anytime groups current
Open and Day tickets.
-
The only change to ticket
terms & conditions is that from 7th September the outward portion of an
Anytime Return will have one day validity only.
Off-Peak
-
These are cheaper tickets
for travelling on trains that are less busy. You may be required to travel
at specific times of the day, days of the week or on a specific route.
-
Off-Peak groups current
Saver, Business Saver, Cheap Day and other time or day restricted tickets.
-
Break of journey will now
be permitted on all Off-Peak tickets unless otherwise indicated by a
restriction shown against the ticket's validity code. Therefore, Saver fares
that are currently restricted may allow a break of journey from 7th
September when they become Off-Peak fares.
Please note, some validity
codes and associated restrictions for Off-Peak fares will change from 7th
September.
Super Off-Peak
-
Where there is more than
one Off-Peak fare for a journey, the cheaper fare with more restrictions
will be called Super Off-Peak.
-
Super Off-Peak groups
current SuperSaver, Pricebuster, Evening and Weekend tickets. It also
includes some former Saver fares.
-
The terms & conditions for
Super Off-Peak tickets are the same as those for Off-Peak tickets, but with
more travel restrictions.
-
Railcard discounts will
apply to all Super Off-Peak tickets sold on or after 10th August for travel
on or after 7th September.
